Meet Jeremy Barkey

LEADERSHIP / CONSULTING
A graduate of Michigan State University, Jeremy began his professional career as a public-school Teacher and Coach. During that time, Jeremy also earned his master’s degree in organizational leadership from the University of Cincinnati before moving into Athletic Leadership as Athletic Director for both Chelsea and Ann Arbor Skyline High Schools. Eventually, Jeremy transitioned into the private sector, serving as Chief People Officer for Common Sail Investment Group and later as VP of Operations for StoryPoint Senior Living. During that time Jeremy played a key role in developing the organization’s Leadership Program and contributing to the company’s overall growth and expansion. In 2023, Jeremy founded Captain’s Light Consulting which specializes in Leader Development, Team Building, and Executive Coaching.

SPEAKING / MENTORSHIP
Jeremy also enjoys serving leaders in the arena of his first love, Athletics. To date, Jeremy has partnered with various College Football Programs (including University of Alabama & Michigan State University) as a Guest Speaker and Leadership Mentor for Student-Athletes and Coaches. Jeremy’s mission, whether working with private businesses or high school, collegiate, or professional athletes and coaches is to help individuals discover how they can live on purpose and reach their full potential, using proven and universal strategies and tools. In The Conqueror’s Way: A SIMPLE Playbook for Victorious Pursuit, Jeremy uses this faith-based work to share his life-lessons for thriving in pursuit of purpose and potential.

ATHLETIC BACKGROUND
Raised in Warren, Michigan, Jeremy’s life in sport and leadership after high school began when he accepted an athletic scholarship to play both football and baseball at NAIA Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois. From there he transferred to Michigan State University where he played for Head Coaches Nick Saban and Bobby Williams, from 1998-2001. As a Walk-On Quarterback, Jeremy ran the scout team offense in addition to being designated as the Football Team’s Representative on the Student-Athlete Advisory Council and Student-Athlete President for Michigan State’s Athletes in Action chapter, during the Organization’s inaugural year on campus.
